I don't really think people should be judged by their friends. I know if I was to run for president, I would constantly be apologizing for my associations with queer feminist trotskyites, animal rights extremists, eco terrorists, smack addicts, D list Hollywood tarts, lap dancers, as well as bat ass crazy militiamen bunkered down in the Idaho panhandle.
So I don't really care if Bill Ayers is one of Barack Obama's honky bros. And I don't really care if, in his youth, under the influence of way too much Marx and copious quantities of hallucinogens, Ayers became a pimply-ass suburban version of Che Guevara. That sort of nuttery was the kind of thing dorky college students, who should have been worrying about why they weren't getting laid, contemplated during the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius.
But what I am concerned about is that a President Obama might appoint Dr. Ayers, or one of the many education professors just like him, to head the Department of Education.
The unrepentant former Weatherman Underground bomb tosser, is now a respected education professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is also responsible for some of the most outrageous political claptrap being foisted on America's teachers-in-training.
Of course, with the United States ranking near the bottom in educational achievement in the industrialized world, the teaching colleges should be solely concerned about producing teachers who can somehow teach Jane and Johnny to read, not politics of any kind.
But with a public education system rapidly going down the crapper, the mission of Dr. Ayers is to make sure America's teachers are thoroughly indoctrinated in Marxist theory.
Bill Ayers is a leader in the “critical pedagogy” academic educational school of thought, which sees elementary school students as vessels through which the revolution can be realized. Rather than blowing up ROTC offices, Bill Ayers is now attempting to plant bombs in the minds of the nation's school children.
His Handbook of Social Justice in Education is required reading in many of the nation's Schools of Education.
Ayers' “critical pedagogy” theory is based upon Paolo Freie's book Pedagogy of the Oppressed , which is also must reading in academic educational circles.
Freie's bible of progressive education explains why traditional teaching methods are just tools of capitalist oppression and imperialism.
Dr. Ayers, and his fellow latte sipping Marxists, browbeat young teaching students, until they accept the thoroughly discredited economic and social theories of dialectic materialism, much as the victims of Mao's Cultural Revolution did.
Bill Ayers is just a nerdy misguided college freshman, who never grew up, and can not stop playing revolution.
Unfortunately, there are way too many people, including perhaps Barack Obama, who take him seriously.
At the very least, the presidential aspirant needs to tell us that his pal is full of shit.

Wow, there haven't been this many China enthusiasts since back in the day when Barack Obama's Weathermen buddies wouldn't be caught dead without Chairman Mao's little red book.
Last week CNN's resident curmudgeon, Jack Cafferty, made the startling observation that China exports a lot of “junk” and that their leaders are more or less the same type of goons they have always been.
The Chinese government demanded an apology. Today thousands of protesters gathered outside CNN's Hollywood studio. One of the leaders, Lake Wang , told the LA Times:
“We understand free speech. But what if Cafferty said this about other racial groups? I think he would be fired. I think he's jealous of China."
Mr. Wang understands free speech about as well as the goons that savagely rule the country of his ancestors.
The modern era of China was brought into being by Mao Zedong and the Communist Party. In the process they executed about 27 million Chinese, primarily because they did not agree with the Chairman's idiotic idea of a dictatorship of the proletariat, which would then magically usher in the worker's paradise.
But China has evolved from the heady revolutionary days of sending educated people out to work the rice fields, and a steel mill in every backyard. It has followed the same path that all ideologies do.
They start out as a movement, become an organization, and end up being a racket.
At least Mao was sincere. The current leaders of China are just hypocrites. They no longer believe, like Mao and his comrades on the Long March, that the People's brutal enslavement will someday end in a communal eden. But nonetheless they still utilize Mao's dictatorial means—but the only purpose is to line their pockets.
Does Mr. Wang seriously deny the Chinese record on human rights? It is so massive that I am not going to attempt a summary. I will just point out that if Mr. Wang, and his fellow protesters, were indignant about a Chinese commentator, they would not be permitted to gather outside CCTV's Beijing studios.
And if he wanted to get his grievances out in a blog, he would not be able to do any research by googling terms such as “freedom” and “liberty”. There would be zero hits since Google has partnered with the glorious leaders of the People's Republic, in censoring it's people.
But if he did get his rant out on the Internet, he would soon find himself under arrest, since Yahoo or Google would provide the government with the necessary identifying information to locate him.
After ten years of reeducation in the Chinese penal system, Mr. Wang might understand what “freedom of speech” means.
However, if you now need a good laugh, check out this website, setup by the "People of China" to give us the straight dope.
